Meeting at the ZIPO farm in Zibido di San Giacomo. EXO met with Marco Pozzi and his daughter Elisa, who told the group about the history of their farm, which began as an intensive dairy farm, reconverted to multifunctionality, where dairy production is still important.
The farm has retrieved an ancient local variety of Carnaroli rice, winning several awards.
Nice stop at Cascina di Sant’Ambrogio to taste typical Milanese cuisine, with local cold cuts and cheeses and excellent yellow risotto all’ossobuco.
In the afternoon, stop at Società Agricola Marchesina s.r.l., to visit the barn in which 3800 calves are raised. The farm is also equipped with a biogas plant, built in 2010, and photovoltaic panels have been placed on the last stables, built with an open canopy system.
Throughout the day the group was accompanied by the President of the Milano Sud Agricultural Park, Daniele Del Ben, and two technicians, Piercarlo Marletta and Giovanni Chiurazzi.
The park, desired by citizens, aims to maintain the agricultural use of the area’s land by contributing to the balance between urban and agricultural activities.
